Kolpa River is very warm during summer time. It’s ideal for swimming, fishing, kayak or canoe or even SUP. Instead of the water activities you can take a walk or a bike ride around the area.
Inside the camp area you can use outdoor fitness equipment, children playground, canoe, bicycle or SUP rental. Or you can opt for relaxation with outdoor massage, renting of the wellness area with a jacuzzi, picnic in nature or even yoga.
Kolpa River
The Kupa (Croatian pronunciation: [kûpa]) or Kolpa (Slovene pronunciation: [ˈkóːlpa] or [ˈkóːwpa]; river, forms a natural border between north-west Croatia and southeast Slovenia. It is 297 kilometres (185 miles) long, with its border part having a length of 118 km (73 mi) and the rest located in Croatia.
With low summer flow the Kolpa River especially around Bela Krajina region warms up to balming swimming temperatures (over 25°C) even in the upper course up to 24 °C. In the summer months Kolpa is especially popular for swimming and other water sports.
In the last few years the tourism became an important part of the region, especially in the summer months when visitors can enjoy swimming or boating in the clean warm river. Around the shore there’s a few camps (in Gorenja Žaga, Dol, Srednji Radenci, Vinica, Adlešiči, Griblje, Podzemelj, Primostrek and Križevska vas), touristic farms and smaller inns or apartments for rent. Sport fishing is also a big part of Kolpa river on both Slovenian in Croatian side.
With Croatia entering EU the area around the Kolpa river is included in the Natura 2000. It’s included in the whole course from origin and until flowing into the Sava river around Sisak (Croatia).
